Yellowstone Day

We spent about 10 hours yesterday on the East side of Yellowstone NP and it was just awesome. Most of the day we were above the 9000 foot elevation and it was very cool to say the least of it. We had during the day a lot of rain and hail showers that turned the mountain tops white again as we drove along the East Road along Lake Yellowstone and the Yellowstone River. We spent a lot of time looking at three of the four access point of Yellowstone Falls. The falls are just beautiful and the Canyon that River has created is almost as deep as the Grand Canyon , just not as wide. The colors of the rock formations are just amazing an the River is just this lovely shade of blue green. We will be off soon today on another quest to search out some more hot springs today. I don't know how many of you realize that this whole area sits on top of the Yellowstone Super Volcano which is one of the largest in the world. more later.                                                          G
